Learn about the international adoption process, including the home study process, while meeting our Dove Adoptions International staff. Dove currently has programs in Russia and Ethiopia, and can provide home study services to families residing in Oregon.
Dispelling myths about Russia being closed to intercountry adoptions, Dove was one of the first agencies to be accredited in Russia, and has been working in Russia since 1992. In 2002, Dove was contacted by Ethiopia and went on to become one of the first US agencies licensed in Ethiopia. Currently both Dove's Russia and Ethiopia programs are accepting new applications to find homes for children of all ages, including those with special needs, older children and sibling groups.
This event is designed to provide an overview of important issues that families face during the adoption process and once their child is home. This includes initially choosing a country and an agency, as well as understanding what information will be provided by their child’s country of origin.
Additional topics will include realistic expectations when adopting children, and how to develop a healthy attachment once your child is home. This free workshop is a brief, informative overview of the international adoption process.
